Sri Ashok Tiwari, who was elected Mayor of Varanasi in 2023, attended the 25th Kagyu Gunchoe with his entourage on the morning of 10 January. A long-time admirer of Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, he has maintained close connections with the Vajra Vidhya Institute. He was welcomed by the head of Vajra Vidhya Institute, Khenpo Karma Gendun, and met with the leaders of the shedras over tea and snacks.
Khenpo Karma Gendun presented him with a golden Buddha statue, incense and other gifts.
