༄༅། །བཀའ་བརྒྱུད་དགུན་ཆོས་ཆེན་མོ་སྐབས་ཉེར་བཞི་པའི་ཉིན་བཅོ་བརྒྱད་པ། བསྡུས་རྟགས་བློ་གསུམ་དང་ཚད་མ་གོང་འོག་གཉིས། ཕར་ཕྱིན་གོང་འོག་གཉིས་བཅས་སྡེ་ཚན་ཁག་གི་རྩོད་འགྲན་རིམ་པ་སྔ་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་གྲུབ་འབྲས་བརྒྱ་ཆ་ཨང་རིམ་སྒྲོགས་སྦྱང་དང་མཇུག་གི་ཟངས་རྟགས་རྟིང་འགྲན་དང་གསེར་རྟགས་རྟིང་འགྲན་གྱི་འགྲན་རྩོད་ལ་ཚུད་པའི་སྡེ་ཚན་ཁག་རྣམས་ནས་སོ་སོས་རྩོད་གཞི་རྒྱན་འཐེན་བཞིན་པའི་སྣང་བརྙན།
The first round of debates was an elimination round. On December 30th, Khenpo David Karma Choephel announced the results.
Of the nine teams in Collected Topics, Types of Evidence, and Mind and Awareness, the top two in each group went on to the next round - the ‘gold medal’ round.
Tsema (Validity) and Pharchin (Prajnaparamita) were both divided into two levels, with four teams competing on each level. The teams placed third and fourth went on to compete in the bronze medal round. The teams placed first and second went on to compete in the gold medal round.
The teams were given details of the topics to be debated and the captains drew lots to decide whether their team would be responder or presenter first.
